Bestwood Miners Welfare Community Centre
Contract value: £80K

The whole community of this ex-mining village had a vested interest in the new facilities.  Genine worked, under Ground Works Architects, directly with the main steering group and several of the user groups, including the ‘Black Diamonds’ brass band, to develop a solution suitable for all.

Notwithstanding the inherent needs identified in these discussions, the building was required to act as an advert to potential customers passing the site on the adjacent busy route.

In response, the works provide a bold signal of the building use, clear identification of the main entrance point and a warm homely environment within.
